Is God’s grace sufficient for our exams?
Me too,I agree, there is no area beyond reach of God’s grace, not even our school.
But why do we some times act like our school is outside reach of his grace. Maybe because we think God is not interested in school or maybe we think without Christ we can do something .
As kingdom scholars, School is here to prepare us for better service in his kingdom, History’s greatest missionary Apostle Paul was a lawyer,Daniel was acquainted with all kinds of literature(Dan 1:4)
What are you talking about? Even Jesus grew in “stature and wisdom(Luke 5:52)”
I am personally thankful for my English teachers for those verb lessons, what would we write without them? But why then do we get a lot of anxiety during examination time, why do our spiritual disciplines take the backseat during assessment time?
Maybe because we think education is our hope. Wait, may be somebody needs to remind us. We don’t live and move in education. In Christ “we move, live and have our being (Acts 17:28)”
The fear of the lord, (not our IQ) is the beginning of wisdom, in fact, God counsels us to “lean not on our own understanding but acknowledge him in all our (even academic) ways.”
Of course this doesn’t mean Friday nights in overnight before Saturday morning ‘s paper, but it means that as a royal priesthood(1 Peter 2:9) of sound mind(2 Tim 1:7), you arrange your study and preparation time around your spiritual schedule, not the other way round.
As you read hard, your study of God’s word should stay still too, for it’s the scriptures that “are able to make you wise (2 Tim 3:15)” after all “In him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Col 2:3)“
Remember we are not of this world (John 17:14-16) yet we are also called to “walk as the wise, redeeming the time for the days are evil (Eph 5:14-18). We need to understand God is the author of our time, apportioning our time well in examinations will bring him glory.
I pray this season leaves you nourished than ever, that even as you check your marks on the notice board next semester, you will be thankful that indeed “the fear of the Lord, is the beginning of all wisdom(Prov 9:10).”
